Third Answer

EQ: How can a lineman best reduce the risk of injury or fatality on the job?

One of the best ways to reduce these risks is by a job briefing.

  • The job will be laid out showing everyone whats going to be done.
  • The workers wont be confused on what is to be expected for the job.
  • All safety measures will be addressed making the work environment safer.

This may not be the best answer but its an important answer that plays a role in protecting yourself in this career.

1. Have you ever worked with someone with very poor communication?
2. What made them hard for you to understand?
3.  What tricks do you use for improving communication?
4. Has a time presented itself where communication prevented any accident?
5. What was the best tailgate meeting you ever attended and why?

6. Have you ever had a day when your lack of awareness or focus was a problem?
7. What jobs are more hazardous when you have problems with your awareness?
8. How do you force yourself to concentrate?
9. What kinds of distractions are most hazardous?
10. Have you ever had to keep an eye out for an employee with personal problems or other distractions in their life?

11. If  not sure of a requirement or spec how do you learn the correct answer?
12. Would you call knowledgeable people if you need information and why?
13. What do you do if you believe the foreman is wrong?
14. How does one look for information now a days by book or internet?
15. How long did it take you to be comfortable doing your job?

16. Could you describe a mistake that taught you a very valuable lesson?
17. Could you describe another persons mistake that you were glad wasn't yours?
18. Would you prefer to teach or be taught by explaining or demonstrating and why?
